Drexel L. Smith

Chief Advisor

Drexel L. Smith is serving in a senior executive project management role overseeing the development of MAG and TAG Teams.  He has a unique combination of skills and experience from a long history of public service and more than four decades of evaluating systems for the defense, aerospace, energy, transportation and commercial product industries.  His broad range of career responsibilities went from technical, to contract administration, to executive management, from test engineer to corporate management. He retired in December 2008 as the Corporate Sr. Vice President of Wyle Laboratories Inc., then a $800 million/4,000-person technology services company where he was responsible for business development; marketing and communications; environment, health & safety; real property; and government relations. Previous assignment was Senior Vice President & General Manager, Technical Support Services (TSS) Business Unit that operated and maintained laboratories and research facilities for government and industry clients such as DoD, NASA and major prime contractors.  Since 2008 is the founder and president of the Drexel Consulting Group, LLC.

Edgar A. Barnachea

Advisor

Edgar has over 20 years of experience as a prototype machinist, highly experienced with die, wire, and ribbon bonding, including RF layout, circuit fabrication and testing. Edgar has held highly skilled positions within distinguish corporations including The Aerospace Corporation, Hughes Aircraft and TRW to name a few.  His oversight was crucial in the completion of various missions and projects including electronics Test and Development Technician for RF/microwave communication electronics equipment. Responsible for building RF systems including RF layout, board fabrication, die bonding, wire bonding, RF fixture fabrication and general machining. Responsible for oversight and maintenance of bonding cleanroom and machine shop. Design and assembly of RF test fixtures for GaN HEMT transistors covering 800 MHz – 3 GHz frequency range and output power of 150W. Assembly, tune, and test of Class F GaN HEMT amplifiers for CubeSat ground station equipment. Provided critical engineering and manufacturing support for CubeSat communication links operations. Fabrication, test and tuning of RF amplifiers including RF layout, board fabrication, die bonding, wire bonding, RF fixture fabrication and general machining. Responsibilities progressed from 26 to 60 and 110 GHz class MMICs. Testing and Tuning waveguide high power amplifiers and low noise GaAs amplifiers in the 26 to 40 GHz bands. Responsible for: die bonding, wire bonding, RF test and measurement. Machining prototype RF amplifiers and test fixtures including waveguide amplifiers. Edgar has attended Hughes Aircraft RF Microwave Electronics at Long Beach City College, Advanced Vocational Machinist, Banning High School, NASA J Standard Flight Soldering and has studied Hughes courses in microwave theory to advance into various highly technical RF technician assignments. Proposed Technical Advisor Team (TAG)


The Technical Advisory team is being formed at this time.  Highly qualified PhD’s have been identified, and initial interviews have been completed as of this writing.  The final team is to be determined, but ideally, this is the technical team to provide consultation on the feasibility, process, and gap identification in order to fulfil the Company’s goal of a Electromagnetic Launch.  Without divulging their names, here is a summary of the Technical Team being assembled:

  • Stanford Doctoral Degree of Philosophy (PhD) and holds a Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
  • PhD in Oceanography from Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
  • D. in solid-state physics and an M.S. in chemical physics from the University of Delaware; he received a B.S. in physics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has co-authored over 200 technical publications, including two books on Energetic Materials.
